You can limit the list of transactions by accounts, time range, categories and even by a specific text using the text field. The text field search can include the transaction details, the counterparty, the amount, the main category as well as the sub category.

If you click on “Advanced search”, you can define a time range that is precise to the day, a minimum and maximum amount as well as search terms in the transaction description. If you choose an interval that contains only partial transaction data, only the available transaction data is shown. You will not be explicitly notified about this fact. Your chosen time range is automatically applied to further analysis and views within the Financial Planner.

In order to do this, click on the pencil icon in the column ‘Category’ of the respective transaction.

In the dialog window, you can choose a category and then a sub category. The resulting change is subsequently summarized in a dialog box which gives an option to create a rule. Within this, by use of the text field ‘Counterparty’, you can limit the scope to a specific counterparty. In addition, it is also possible to filter by description and you can also combine both filters by use of the checkboxes. This is especially helpful if the change should not only be made once but is supposed to be defined as a general rule.

Finally, you can define whether the categorization of the transaction should be done once or if it should be defined as a general rule for automatic recategorization. For use as permanent rule, the filter has to be chosen in a way that affects multiple transactions. Before the rule is saved, the Financial Planner shows you how many transactions would be affected by the new rule. If only one transaction is concerned, this is an indication of an inappropriate search term. By clicking on the Back button, you can adapt the rule criteria. It is also possible to edit and administer rules within the ‘Settings’ page.

For each main category you can create sub categories by click on "+ Add sub-category" at the end of the category list. The name can be chosen freely. You can access the list of sub categories if you try to recategorize a transaction (see "How can I recategorize transactions?"). For every main category you can define up to ten custom sub categories.

This can be done by clicking on the Edit icon found on the extreme right column of any given transaction. In the ‘Edit transaction’ dialog box that is shown, click on the chart symbol in order to toggle between include and exclude. Please note: You can categorize the transaction in this dialog as well.

This can be done by clicking on the Edit icon found on the extreme right column of any given transaction. Then, within the Edit transaction dialog box, click on "Split transaction" (small symbol “scissors“). In the following dialog box you can divide the transaction that is shown in the first row into two sub transactions. The amounts for the sub transactions can be defined in input fields in the "Amount” column.

It is also possible to add specific descriptions for the split transactions, to categorize, include in or exclude them from the analysis or to delete them (recycle bin symbol or "Delete all splits"). By click on the "+" symbol, splits can be added. The "Save" button persists all of the changes.

Credit card transactions are taken into account immediately after booking. For this, no credit card statement is necessary. The monthly booking of the credit card statement is excluded from analysis in the Financial Planner (Marked by a symbol of "striked eye"), if the credit card's settlement account and the credit card refer to the same branch/account number.

Transactions between sub-accounts of the same branch/account number are recognized and excluded automatically, so you do not need to take action on this matter any more. Besides of this, you can use the function “Exclude transaction from the analysis” as described above. 

This situation occurs if you exclude transactions from the visual analysis on the page “Transactions”. In this case, the page “Analysis” sums up the transactions that have not been excluded explicitly. On the page “Transactions” however, the sum contains all transactions. The same effect can appear if you define another analysis date that is beyond the displayed period of time. The data of the Transactions-Page view are based on the booking date, whereas the data on the analysis pages are based on the analysis date.

At the end of the list of transactions you can find the select field "Download". There you can choose whether to download the list either as Excel document or as CSV file.

Printing all transactions does only work if you use the printer symbol in the icon area or by pressing the key code "Cmd-P". The browser's print function will only print a limited amount of transactions.

The analysis date defines the period of time the analysis is based on. It is preset to the transaction date. The analysis date can be defined up to one month before or after the default date. Changes can be done in the "Edit transaction" dialog on the transactions page of the Financial Planner. The analysis date is taken into account on the pages "Analysis", "Overview" and "Budgeting" as well.
