The eSafe Client allows the synchronization of all data to your PC / Mac.

This makes it easier to edit, exchange and update stored files at any time.           

The password is not saved for security reasons. Accordingly, the Deutsche Bank cannot reset the password.           

The eSafe Client automatically synchronizes your files every 5 minutes. If desired however, you can manually set how often the eSafe Client should synchronize your files.
To do this please proceed as follows:

1. Log on to the eSafe client.
2. Select the “Settings” tab.
3. Set the “Synchronization Interval” according to your requirements.           
   

The local eSafe folder is visually distinguishable from other folders on your computer thanks to the Deutsche Bank icon.
Please follow these steps to locate the folder:

• Open the eSafe Client
• Then change to the “Personal Safe” tab and select “Synchronized folders”
• You now see a list of all your synchronized folders
• Double-click on a folder in this list to go directly to the local folder on your PC / Mac. 
  

If individual files or folders are not synchronized with your eSafe, it may be because you have used an incompatible character in the file or folder name. Verify whether one of the following characters is used in a file or folder name, and replace it if necessary:

• / (forward slash)
• \ (backward slash)
• < (less than)
• > (greater than)
• : (colon)
• " (quotation marks)
• | (pipe)
• ? (question mark)
• * (asterisk) 

 Also note that files with the following names and properties are ignored by the eSafe Client and thus are not synchronized:

• Name begins or ends with spaces or tabs
• Empty files (with size 0 bytes)
• File and folder names with more than 128 characters
• desktop.ini
• thumbs.db
• Thumbs.db
• ds_store
• thumbnails
• Temporary Items
• Trashes
• DS_Store
• Document Revisions-V100
• .fseventd
• .apdisk
• .svn
• .htaccess
• .eSafe. *
• .*conflicted copy.*

If you exceed the storage limit for your eSafe, all new files that you add to your local eSafe folder will no longer sync.

The eSafe Client can be terminated unexpectedly without notifying you.

When this happens, try to open the application by double-clicking the eSafe icon in your Applications folder, and then reactivating the synchronization by clicking the “Sync All” button.           

Any changes you make to the local folder on your PC / Mac will be synchronized with your eSafe.

However, if you accidentally delete a file, you can restore it using the Recycle Bin in your eSafe.

As long as you do not empty the Recycle Bin, all files you have deleted from your eSafe remain there.           

The transmission of your data is encrypted in addition to the encrypted SSL connection using a session-specific key. This ensures that your data can not be read by anyone other than you.           

Yes, the eSafe client behaves transparently behind a proxy server, i.e. it uses the settings defined in the operating system. We have successfully tested a number of HTTP proxies.

If you are having problems with a specific solution, please ensure that the eSafe URLs are not blocked.           

No, in order to ensure maximum security such a feature was intentionally dispensed with.     

If the eSafe client does not update, please check if your anti-virus software blocks the update. Make sure you have an active internet connection.
If this does not help, uninstall the eSafe client and download the latest version from the Deutsche Bank website.

At the moment a Linux client is not planned.           

No, at least one active TAN method is required to use the eSafe Client with activated 2FA.           

• Log in to your eSafe client with your Mac.
• Select “Sync All” to ensure that all the latest changes you made to files have been synchronized with the eSafe application (your eSafe).
• After the synchronization is complete, select the Settings tab.
• Click on each object in the list and then on the minus button at the end of the list to remove the objects (the objects must be removed individually).
• If the list is empty, log out of the eSafe client.
• Now delete all folders created by the eSafe Client on your Mac.
• You can now uninstall the eSafe Client. 
  

You can manually configure how often the eSafe Client synchronises your data. Proceed as follows:

• Select the tab “Settings”.
• Set the “Synchronisation Interval” to your wishes.
  

The local encryption of the eSafe client is an additional security layer that allows you to securely encrypt your data on your PC / Mac.

This way the locally encrypted data is only in a readable, decrypted format when the eSafe client is running.           

You can first set whether you want to use the local encryption or not, when installing the eSafe client and setting up the initial synchronisation. This is done by activating the checkbox “Encrypted”.

Additionally you can activate the encryption at any time given without having to reinstall the eSafe client. First the synchronisation has to be deleted by using the “minus” button in the “Synchronised Folders” section of the “Personal Safe” area. Afterwards it has to be added again using the “plus” button and selecting the entire folder structure. To activate the encryption activate the checkbox “Encrypted”.

Yes, you can also enable / disable the local encryption for individual folders in the eSafe. To do so, instead of selecting “entire folder structure” you have to select the relevant folder that is to be encrypted / not encrypted.           

Yes, you can choose in which networks the eSafe data should be synchronised. To do so go the “WiFi settings” in the eSafe client settings. Here you can select to sync on all networks or only on specific ones.
