Upon activation - if not done already - you will need to provide an e-mail address. This is required to inform you of the receipt of important bank messages in your Digital Postbox.
Upon termination of the account, you will receive a link to this e-mail address which will allow you to access these bank messages over a period of 4 years, if necessary.

As long as your eSafe has not expired, you can synchronize the documents from your Postbox and your data and passwords from your Digital Safe as usual using the eSafe Client or use the app.

The Deutsche Bank eSafe is available to account holders with Online Banking access. The usage is available to private as well as business customers. Currently, minors and legal persons as well as authorised persons are excluded. However, authorised persons may be granted access to the Digital Postbox by an account holder. The account holder can authorise them directly in the Online Banking.

Access to the Online Banking, a valid e-mail address as well as an active TAN method are required for the registration and usage of the Deutsche Bank eSafe. 

It is possible to create an eSafe for every customer ID you have.

No, this functionality is currently not provided.

The eSafe is currently available in German and English.

It is not possible to revoke the purchase as the access to the eSafe is granted instantly. Prior to the purchase the customer accepted to waive their right of revocation at the immediate provision of the eSafe.
However, it is possible to change the eSafe variant at any time, even to the free one if desired.

The eSafe can also be activated with a foreign registration address. However a change of variants is only possible with a German registration address. This means you can only use the free variant of the eSafe.

The eSafe consists of a free Digital Safe and the Digital Postbox. The Digital Safe can be used to manage your personal data and passwords. To do so, the Personal Safe and Password Safe are available for you to use. In addition, your bank messages (account and securities documents, credit card statements, etc.) of the Deutsche Bank will be posted to your Digital Postbox.

You can cancel your eSafe contract at any time. Your Digital Safe will be converted to the free basic version but access to your documents and passwords within the Digital Safe will remain. New documents and passwords can only be saved again after dropping below the allowed usage values. If you have used a payed Digital Safe until your cancellation, you may be refunded for payments made. You will also continue to have access to your Digital Postbox and all bank documents uploaded to that point. All new bank documents will be delivered through means agreed upon previous to the activation of the eSafe. A possible fee that may be incurred for this can be found in the list of prices and services of the bank.

You can activate the eSafe in the Online Banking. To do so, an e-mail address has to be specified and you have to read and accept the terms and conditions.

If I already owned a Digital Safe, all your documents and passwords will remain. After activating a new eSafe, you can still access the Ditigal Safe in the same place in the Online Banking.

If you already have a Postbox, after activating the eSafe, all documents will be moved to the new Digital Postbox.

Even in the event of a locked Digital Safe, the access to your documents in the Digital Postbox remains.

A remembered device is a browser that enables the customer to login to the eSafe without the need of entering a TAN. 

When prompted to enter the TAN, the customer can select, that he wants to trust this device in the future.

Please delete the local storage of your browser.

With the introduction of single sing-on, your eSafe will be linked directly to your Online Banking session and you will be automatically logged in to eSafe. A prerequisite is that you have already marked the browser as a trusted device. If this is not the case, you will have to confirm the login with a TAN.

There are several reasons why you have to mark a device as remembered again:

1. You are using a different browser then the one you originally marked as remembered.
2. You have deleted the local storage of your browser.

You can login into the Online Banking via a standard browser and assign a new password on the "eSafe Information" page.

If you have lost your username and / or password, you login into the Online Banking via a standard browser and view your username and create a new password for your eSafe on the "eSafe Information" page.

You can download the eSafe Client from the Deutsche Bank downloads section. On your first usage, you will be asked to set your login credentials (username and password). These can be set in the section "Manage eSafe".

The Deutsche Bank has no access to the Digital Safe (Personal Safe and Password Safe) and therefore has no access to your data. The bank therefore is unaware of the contents of your Digital Safe.

With a selection of highly secure and globally recognized encryption methods (RFC-2898), we encrypt all customer data for the Personal Safe. AES-256 and RSA-2048 are used as cryptographic standards. These methods are designed to provide the high level of protection required for many yours to come.

Deutsche Bank attaches great importance to the highest security and confidentiality of your data. We are not able to access your data at any time.

The eSafe uses so-called EV SSL certificates. All transported data is encrypted and secured with the highest protection. The eSafe relies not only on the SSL protection, but also encrypts particularly critical data (for example user data and password-safe entries) with a session key. This additional encryption helps specifically preventing man-in-the-middle and replay attacks.

For the eSafe Client: The transmission of your data is encrypted in addition to the encrypted SSL connection using a session-specific code.

You can use photoTAN and mobileTAN to log in to eSafe. If one of the procedures is not available, you can use another.

You can activate your TAN procedures in your Online Banking under “security procedures”.

The “Secure Remote Password Protocol” is implemented for eSafe. This highly secure process was invented at Stanford University by Tom Wu (RFC 2945). It secures the eSafe particularly well against internet attacks and is yet easy to use. Furthermore it is important to point out, that - unlike other methods - your personal password never has to be stored even temporarily. In addition, a high level of security for your access is provided by a two-factor authentication.

The files in the eSafe are still secured. Using two factor authentication via the TAN methods the security of your data is ensured.

The Deutsche Bank only posts banking messages into your Digital Postbox. However, the bank has no access to already posted bank messages and therefore cannot read, change or delete or even restore any deleted messages.

To search the entire Digital Postbox, proceed as follows:

1. Log in to your eSafe using your PC / MAC
2. Click on "All Files" in your Digital Postbox in the left column
3. Enter your search term in the search field
4. Your entire Digital Postbox will now be searched.

You can search by date, product number and subject or parts of the subject.

To do so, please click on "All Files" in the left column and then start your search. Now all files in your corresponding Digital Postbox are considered.

The bank saves the posted bank messages for the entire duration of the customer's Online Banking usage with an active account.

The posted bank messages will remain available even after the cancellation of the eSafe. New documents will not be uploaded. All new bank documents will be delivered through means agreed upon previous to the activation of the eSafe. A possible fee that may be incurred for this can be found in the list of prices and services of the bank.

The deletion of a bank document is issued through the customer and therefore final. Deleted documents cannot be restored by the bank. Within the statutory storage obligations, the bank however is able at any time, to issue a hardcopy of this document on demand. A possible fee that may be incurred for this can be found in the list of prices and services of the bank.

The storage space of the Digital Postbox - opposing to the Digital Safe - is not limited. The documents within the Postbox will not be offset against the storage space of the Digital Safe.

No. Once uploaded, a bank document remains available in your Digital Postbox - unless you delete them yourself.

The Digital Postbox will remain free of charge.

If you have selected one or more documents, you can either use right-click to access the context menu or use the right-hand toolbar to set documents to "Mark all as read".

Yes, you can easily select several documents for simultaneous uploading:

1. Log in to your eSafe using your PC / Mac
2. Make sure you have selected the Personal Safe folder where you want to store the documents
3. Click "Upload" in the top menu bar
4. Select all the documents you want to upload by holding down the CTRL key (Windows) or CMD (MacOS) while clicking the files
5. Click "Open" to upload all documents.

The maximum file size for a single file is 2 GB.

Please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your eSafe using your PC / Mac
2. Double-click on the document you want to download, or select it and click the “Download” button
3. The selected file(s) will be downloaded to your computer.

NOTE: When you select and download complete folders, the contents are automatically compressed and downloaded as a single document with the extension “.zip” to your PC.
After the compressed file has been downloaded to your computer, you can extract it using your compression tool.

You can search for specific file names or file types to find the file you want.

The folder which you are currently located in is searched.

To search the entire Personal Safe, please proceed as follows:

1. Log in to your eSafe using your PC / Mac
2. In the left column, click your Personal Safe on “All Files”
3. Type a search term into the search box
4. Your entire Personal Safe is now searched.

You can see your currently used space either directly in the top right corner in the eSafe or on the “eSafe Information” page.

The Password Safe allows you to create a simple, yet powerful password via a password generator. The strength of the password is additionally graphically visualized.

You can sort the password table alphabetically by clicking the name of a column.

Please perform the following steps:

1. Log in to your eSafe from the Online Banking using any browser
2. Click on your Password Safe
3. Select “Import”
4. Select the file that you want to import
5. A preview table shows which data should be imported into the Password Safe. Each line in the preview table represents a password entry to be imported
6. Customize the import options in the preview table to suit your needs
7. Arrange the rows so that they match the predefined copy fields.

It is important to select the correct character set for your file when importing the passwords into your eSafe. Otherwise special characters may be misinterpreted. A text file in CSV format contain one entry per line. The individual fields must be separated by a delimiter (for example comma, semicolon, tab).

Please note: You can only import existing passwords in the web application.

To do this, please proceed as follows:

1. Log in to your eSafe using any browser
2. Click on your Password Safe
3. Select “Export”
4. A new window appears, where you can specify the export format for your file
5. Select your preferred separator (comma, semicolon, etc.)
6. Choose a character set that meets your requirements
7. Click Continue
8. Select the destination folder on your computer for the password export.

After exporting to your PC / Mac, the CSV file can be imported for further manual processing (e.g. in Excel).

Please note: You can only export existing password lists in the web application.

You can search a password for all the stored data.

We use the renown “password strength estimator” zxcvbn to help you choose a strong password. It displays traffic light colours depending on the strength of your passwords. It does so by checking the entered password for commonly used patterns e.g. repetitions (aaa), sequences (abc) or keyboard patterns (qwerty).
